Project Challenge
Bulky waste (sofas, mattresses, furniture) is voluminous, hard to dismantle, and costly to transport. Landfilling and incineration waste land and pollute the environment—efficient volume reduction and resource recovery remain a major urban waste challenge.
Process Configuration
An integrated line of “shredding + magnetic separation + air classification + dust removal”: bulky waste is fed into a twin-shaft shredder, metals are recovered by magnet, light combustibles are separated from heavy inert material by air classifier, and negative-pressure dust collection controls dust and odor throughout.
Separation Result
-
Metals: recovery rate ≥95%, sent to metal recyclers
-
Combustibles: high calorific value, converted into RDF
-
Inerts: crushed and reused as roadbase or landfill cover
-
Overall volume reduction: ≥70%; resource recovery rate: ≥85%
Customer Outcome
Same-day collection and processing; site footprint cut by 40%; transport trips reduced by 60%; The project meets environmental inspection and waste sorting requirements, becoming a regional demonstration site.
